I would say it all depends on the severity of ones stammer that will determine how bold they are at making new mates. For me at he age of 47 I have a extremely severe stammer. To get a sentence out, will take on average about 2 minutes. I was also late to the speaking wold as well. Parents and doctors thought I was a mute when I was a baby. Long story short. Where has this got me in 47 years. Not many close mates. Never have been married as stammering has done a lot of psychological damage to me. I am not asking for pity or anything else down these lines. What I am trying to get across in my opinion is the following. The less severe a PWS (Person Who Stammers / Stutters) speech dis-fluency is will have a easier life. Not 100%.
