The OP mentioned that his first words were gibberish. Many clutterers (including me) have trouble initiating conversations. They start with talking too fast and end up slurring. But as they reach the middle of a sentence they are better able to get a handle on their speech rate (sometimes by throwing a pause here and there). Once you start to know how exactly to regulate the speech rate, especially at the beginning of the sentence, a realisation sets in that you have been living as if there is always a flight to catch. Whereas everyone around you is perfectly willing to let you take your time (in fact they would prefer it). It is so much more relaxing.
