It's great that you found something that works for you! It probably works because your mind is distracted temporarily and your 'normal' speech mechanism kicks in (like when you speak to yourself). I'm sorry if I sound rude, but I have read that the effect of these distracting behaviors (typing, tapping your foot, blinking) wears off with time (I don't know if it's true in all cases). What's worse is that they might become part of what are called 'secondary behaviors', where you become dependent on the behavior to speak. While I really hope this doesn't happen to you, I feel that it's my duty as a fellow stutterer to let you know.
