Hm. What if a researcher took 500 medical histories of 65 year old life-long stutterers and compared it to randomly chosen sample of 500 65 year old non-stutterers with the same mean income, education, etc.? I am not an expert in medical statistics :-) but one would believe somebody's phd thesis was pretty much that :-)
