I'm tired of being laughed at/Tired of immature people laughing at us: I just want to vent really quickly, In the last two months there have been at least 3 incidents where I've been ordering something at a drive through and I repeat a certain word and the drive thru worker or workers snicker and laugh at me. They don't even have the decency to try and hold it in or at least wait until I'm gone, it makes me feel so disrespected and seen as a joke. Even if they don't know I have a disability, the least they could do is be polite about it. Another thing I want to add onto this is an experience I had during my senior year of high school as a teachers aid assistant. There were these two girls that sat at a table near me and whenever I was talking to my friend, they'd laugh at me silently and waited for me to speak just so they could laugh. It made me not want to go back to the classroom and sometimes I didn't, but it just boggles my mind how, insensitive a lot of people can be to something like this. That situation in particular has been on my mind heavily. It makes me want to give it to them for one day, just one day to see how they'd handle it. To see if it's as "funny" to laugh at another person's struggles with a disability. I feel like no one sees stuttering as something serious, only something that people do when they're nervous, lying, or angry. I see people thinking it's more of a joke than something that thousands of people experience daily. I hate how smiles fade when I'm stuck on a word, I hate how stuttering isn't discussed more, I hate how wide peoples' eyes go when I'm stuck, I hate how people will be so rude to ignore you or laugh in your face about it, I hate stuttering but it's apart of me so I have to love it. I hope you love yourself too, if you read this, thanks and keep going ❤️.
