Short answer, yes. Is this SLP trained and experienced in stuttering? Stuttering is not like other speech disorders (it's a communication disorder) and most SLPs get very little training on it in school if any at all. Even SLPs who work with people who stutter often have outdated methods and don't really understand how to help someone who stutters. Speech therapy can be life changing, it was for me. But you really need to find a therapist who knows what their doing and has a therapy you believe in.
