Yes, and that's why it bothered me. If he was an ignorant stranger the comfort would at least be unsurprising (though equally unsolicited). I'm not really annoyed anymore, honestly. This was the first time he's done something like that. Was he testing the waters? Having a weird day? We'll never know! I'm sure I'll talk to him about it if it becomes a recurring problem.
