I really take similarity with your point about falling into old patterns. I think as people who stammer - we want to be fluent instantly 0-100 style. I would advise taking things (as in goals, eg. working on things 1 day a week, 2 days a week...) slowly and maybe take a relatively long time to have a go at it, instead of trying to fix it in a relatively quick speed. I work in mental health and we call this ‘boom or bust,’ where we just burn out too quickly. You could even take 7 months (or 14) and say for the first (+second)month, every Monday I will work on things, do that for a month, then the next it’s Monday and Tuesday. And I appreciate 7/14 months may sound like a long time - but hey, 36 years is a long time to be dealing with it yourself too! There’s no limit to feeling comfortable! All the best
