I like this analogy! I am one of the ones who contorts my body and face in different ways in response to my stutter, and to be honest the faces I make give me more anxiety than the actual stutter. I used to know a girl who would put her hand over her mouth when she spoke to hide the grimaces that came with her stutter. It’s a tough coping mechanism to have, and one that is very hard to get out of.
