Same happened to me. I had a bad stammer as a kid through maybe 14-15. then one day I started to control it better until aged 20, when in September I learned in the following May I would need to do an oral presentation in front of the year group in the lecture theater. after that, speech just bombed and gradually got worse until I started a speech therapy course 3 Years later.
