First I spent (and still do spend) a good deal of time each day speaking fluently, such as reading out loud when nobody is around or talking to myself (driving in the car is a good time). At first I even had trouble speaking fluently when alone and had to train myself to slow down, speak each work, enunciate. I still find that when I start to regress I have to spend 10-15 minutes each day for a few days in order to retrain my brain. The general framework to me is that I have two different pathways in my brain - a fluent one and a stuttering/blocking one, and my goal is to reinforce the fluent pathway as much as I can and let the stuttering/blocking one die off. There's also definitely a social/emotional aspect for me - social anxiety, confidence, self-acceptance - but the foundation for me is reinforcing the fluent brain pathways so when I'm in social situations it's easier to engage them.
