What has honestly changed my life and changed my stutter and can hopefully help some of you guys too So this semester of college has been really tough on me (check post history for details) but the way I’ve been coping with it has been focusing on my mental and physical health. One of the ways I have been increasing my self esteem has been really caring about the way I look and really, who I am to other people. There’s tons of advice online about how to work on self confidence and I’ve been following a lot of it and one side effect has been that I’m not as nervous in social situations anymore. Not being nervous leads to being more relaxed, and at least for me, being more relaxed has helped so much with being able to speak more fluently. I introduced myself to this super cute girl in one of my classes and I did great, told her my name, major, program, and where I’m staying all very fluently and clearly. These were things I could never do before, the only change from when my stutter was bad and now is my mentality of social interactions. Obviously this advice is anectodal and just works in my situation but I really think a lot of people are in my situation as well. Do whatever you can to help yourself relax and genuinely be more confident in social situations and the stutter will get better on its own. I’ve spent so long being unconfident because of my stutter that now that I am confident, my stutter doesn’t have shit on me
