Awesome post! Popcorn reading was the bane of my existence too. As girl, there were NO fellow female stutters at school. Even teachers laughed at me. 7th grade was when my parents FINALLY got me help. By 8th grade, I made it my goal to get more fluent and did a pretty good job. As long as I handled my stress, my stutter got better. I still had damn terrible days. Reading out loud my senior year in a new school was a NIGHTMARE. I met my now husband when I was 16. He struggled with a speech disorder growing up: dysarthria. Now our son has it too. And guess what? My daughter stutters just like me. We both found people that understand us! Whoohoo! Today, my husband and I both have to me mindful of how we speak still. And we work hard to support our kids. I'm working doing a job I always set out to do (how many people can say that?). I think my stutter helped me get here, and I've never been happier.
