Blocking when picking up the phone - confronted somebody teasing. So I block on the h sound in hello when I pick up the phone. I've gotten around that by changing what I say when I pick up to "mushinnoshin speaking." I get that it's really formal sounding and invariably I get people who decide to treat me like a weirdo for it. Today I called somebody out for it. I told them I have a stutter and block on hello, so I changed the way I answer the phone so I don't block. It was nice to just say it and confront how rude and insensitive they were. Stuttering can be really isolating, even downright alienating, because of experiences like this. I treasure the people in my life who are accepting, even accommodating, simply because they allow me to relax. I get so excited when I meet a fellow stutterer just because I know they can relate and I won't feel as isolated. Be awesome to one another. Stand up for yourself. Hang in there. Us fellow stutterers need you.
