It’s basically just a technique used to promote fluency by modeling your speech after someone else. By listening to how someone else speaks and the rhythms they use it is supposed to help you to be fluent my mimicking their style and taking your mind of the stutter/block. Modeling is also pretty common for people learning a new language or a child who is first learning to speak will model how they attempt words after how their parents say them
