I went to speech therapy as a child. It was during school for a few years. I went with a friend who had trouble creating certain sounds. Looking back I don’t think the speech therapist was trying to make me fluent. I think the speech therapist was trying to get my to be subconsciously aware of when I was about to stutter. In my experience I don’t think my stutter can ever be cured. That being said I think it did help me. I’m not sure if it’s the speech therapy or things I’ve figured out on my own. But it seems to have helped me come up with ways to change sentences before I say them if I know I’m going to stutter, and make pauses if I think that will help. I don’t know how else to explain it other than if I concentrate I can put a pretty tight leash on my stutter. There are also times when I just can’t tho. Idk if any of that made sense. I’d always be happy to chat about any of this if you’d like.
