Has anyone been asked if they have an accent other than their natural accent?

Has anyone been asked if they have an accent other than their natural accent? I am both a stutter and clutterer, and many times I am asked what country I am from. I am from New Jersey and often times people will ask me where I am from because they think I have a distinct accent. I imagine this may be likely due more so to my cluttering. People typically ask me if I’m from Australia, Poland or Germany and I explain to them that I have a number of speech impediments that may make it sound like that I have an accent but I was born and raised in the U.S. I was curious if anyone else has had a similar experience?
