Lets talk about the hit topic " Accept stuttering" Most of people agree that stuttering should be accepted. Why? In general, Because it seems positive idea, accepting something has been glorifying everywhere in stories, movies and in history. Accepting stuttering give us a different perspective on our stuttering, help us to desensitized from stuttering, which reduce stuttering and create a base for other exercises. But people are taking it in a wrong way, I found my post, where people saying about accepting stuttering, and instead of working on it, they are saying just accept it and do nothing about it, why do we have to change for others, others will have to accept us as we are. In a frist glance, it seems right. But just think about why do we care what people are thinking about us, because we are humans, stutterer or non stutterer cares what others thinks of themselves, this is the reason we comb our hair and wear good clothes. We have emotions that makes us humans, when someone laugh we feel angry, when someone say good things about us, we will feel happy and satisfaction. And we are forgetting that why we have developed defensive mechanism against stuttering, because from childhood, we are bullied, we could not be able to explain ourselves that led to smeared of our name, no one understand not even family(some stutterer have understandable family but not all), people laughed at us, and people felt annoyed and left us in middle of conversation. You can say that why do we care? But we care, we are not robot. We wants to get rid of stuttering because we are suffering, it is not like we wake up one day and decided to hate stuttering. We want express our feelings and speak of mind clearly to others, and it is possible if you decide to work on it. Accepting stuttering only helps in desensitization, which is huge part of treating stuttering. Thats it. When you start any techniques or exercises, stuttering will get worse before it gets better, I discontinued and continued exercises several times, so I know by experience. I have seen the difference, I have questioned the professor in the class without a block, I was shivering but I spoke. I approached a girl, without a block, talked to her. I am working at subway, talking to customers, talk about their day, their life and my life. I have given Ielts speaking exam with a single mild block, I have given several interviews, If someone would have told me I will do all these in future, I would have said "in my dreams".
