I accepted it really early in my life, and never really made a problem out of it up until my own wedding. I wouldve loved to do a speech, but my fear of stuttering caused me not to do it (because stuttering at my own wedding would have ruined the special day for me). I started seeing a speech therapist a bit before my wedding but didn’t make enough progress to actually do a speech on my wedding day. Meh. From that point on, i have been with my therapist for 3+ years, and have greatly improved my talking. I barely stutter now, no blockades, no fast talking, i have it under control now. Amount of stutters is now <5 per week and under 10 a month. It gave me enough confidence to do a speech at my friend’s wedding, and it was a blast! I’ve also been on a radio show over the phone, and it was great! Don’t give up my friend! Accepting it is the first step into getting rid of it, or at least toning it down 🙂
