I am not missing a thing :) Read the 'addendum'. It's fine to use breathing techniques to control your stutter. It's a great technique, for some people. Just don't expect it to become fixed. Your stammer is neurological. ​ The reason why people who stutter can sing without stuttering is that the brain processes singing differently from speaking. Even if you sing and use a terrible breathing technique, you will still sing without a stutter. ​ You can escape stuttering by speaking in a singing voice. If you listen to King George's speeches, then you will notice that his voice sings a bit. Some people don't stutter either when they are acting.
