I think you're right. Something like 1% of people stutter -- that's a huge amount. Yet it's usually only portrayed as a story device of some kind. More representations which just *are* would be really refreshing, and I think would help destigmatise it. I haven't seen the film IT (didn't like the book!), but will have to check it out.
