I'll try to explain it better. If we have a fear of heights and we walk high on the mountains. When we might encounter defeatism-triggers, such as focusing on negative past experiences or anticipation. Afterwards, we might feel disruptive physiological body symptoms that we see as a freeze-response, as if we are stuck. If we try to move, we cannot, we are unable to move forward. In this situation, the elements: defeatism & body symptoms have united into one element "as if it's frozen". Many therapeutic clinical interventions work on separating: defeatism & body symptoms. This is completely different from speech therapy (such as fluency shaping or breathing techniques), hence that I stated that I didn't mean speech therapy. I simply mean the act of seperation between defeatism and body symptoms
