how many of us also feel like societies across the world rely too much on verbal communication? i’ve been stuttering (although with massive recent strides) since my little 4-year-old larynx was able to put word sounds together and i had a little epiphany while i was at a vietnamese restaurant in Arizona a while back. the ordering system was amazing, you simply wrote down everything you wanted on a sheet of paper and the waiter would come by pick it up to make your order and it left me wondering why more places don’t do this. i’ve also seen videos of numerous restaurants in japan having a similar system. i live in a major metro area where these types of places are widely available and having more nonverbal options like the aforementioned sheets and online/kiosk ordering would be a dream and it seems fairly easy to integrate. i think it’s a combination of cost and outdated social rules but i’d like to know what you guys think :)
