Does anxiety medications and such work ?

Does anxiety medications and such work ? I have a mild stutter as it is, it does flair up every now and then and it isn't consistent, I'm sure that's the same with most people. I also have some social anxiety, not medically confirmed but it's quite obvious it's there. And usually when I stutter, it feels quite tense in my throat and chest so surely if I were to get anxiety medication and something that helps you relax or relax your throat and such, surely it'd help my stuttering ? I know people have tried different medications and hasn't worked for all but does it not make sense that it would work ?
