Born, raised and grew up in a third world country, and as such, culturally, stuttering (stammering, as we refer it it over there) is/was perceived as a "defect" of sorts, not something to be fixed or corrected. More along the lines of "aww shucks, bad luck", oh well deal with it. Things like speech therapy didn't exist or weren't even considered. My stuttering as a kid was pretty brutal, even to the point that I couldn't say a word without stamping my feet or swinging my arms to get some kind of momentum going. Just wasn't fun at all. Anyway... Le sigh...
