>“overcoming a stutter” is not feasible for most people. Says who? People that haven't overcome their disfluency? Some of whom will one day achieve fluency. I didn't achieve fluency until my mid 20s. If you would have asked me at 20, I would have agreed with OP. Until you've put in the work, day in and day out. Hours a day. Month in and month out... You're making excuses. And you're not alone. A lot of us have been there. It's not easy. Not by any stretch. And it takes more than just the work. It takes the right attitude. It requires you find a competent fluency program. It sure helps to have a trained professional to assist you. IMO, inadequate speech therapists contribute to the idea that you can't overcome your stutter. Too often these professionals are out of their depth, and really should be referring you to another professional better suited to help with disfluency.
