Hey! Me too. The best way to deal with a block (imo) is to not change the word & say the word only (no "ums", "ok" or other words we might use to try to run past the block). So the best way is to talk a bit slowly (so you can feel the block subside with breathing or reflexive positive thoughts). This is tricky as well as many will stutter more if they talk slower than normal. Wish you the best. Honestly the answer is in your first two paragraphs. I used to be so ashamed when I would stutter. Now, I stutter often but more "normally" because I have accepted that my speech might not be as fluent.
