Spit It Out 50M who is mostly fluent. Grew up with a severe stutter and didn't get fluent until my mid-20s. I still have the occasional blocks. But nothing compared to what I used to have in my teens and early '20s. Been at the same job now for 6 months. Was talking to a co-worker early this morning. I woke up with a bit of a headache and for whatever reason was a bit disfluent this morning. Probably had like a three or five second block. She laughingly told me to "spit it out." She wasn't being mean. She was completely unaware that I was a stutterer. I didn't get upset. I told her "growing up I had a really severe stutter." She immediately went into apology mode. I told her I wasn't upset and it was fine. Half a lifetime ago I would have got really upset if somebody told me to spit it out. I wanted to share my story today with this group. Things change over time. We all change over time.
