Has anyone had someone back away in fear from you because of your stuttering?

Has anyone had someone back away in fear from you because of your stuttering? Yeah, I've had that happen to me more than once. Sometimes the person backs away from you like you're a crazy ax-murderer. It's a genuine reaction of fear and bewilderment. I can't help but get offended by it. I'm thinking I'm not an insane psycho who's going to attack you. I just have a speech impediment. It's infuriating as hell. This is the life of a stutterer.
