I'm honestly honored that this post has stuck with you, and I am INCREDIBLY grateful and shocked that you spent the time to give me so many figures! That's super awesome of you, I appreciate that so much and will definitely look back to those characters to see what I can get to them! You rock! The reason my character has a stutter is a bit silly. He's based on a different character of mine, and that character, in early conception, was originally meant to have a stutter, so giving this MC a stutter was sort of a nice homage. Besides that, I value representation a lot in my writing. I try to give at least half, if not more, of my main characters an aspect of representation. Most often this is by including a vast range of ethnicities (I rarely have 'white' characters unless they are based on specific European cultures, like the Scottish), neurodiversities (psychology is a special interest of mine), or disabilities (stutters, one of my older characters had a bad limp, etc.) For this specific book, the characters are basdd on Inuit and Native American cultures. Obvs, the MC has a stutter. One of the other four MCs has extreme visual impairment in the form of one blind eye. Stuff like that is important to me. Not only does it make the cast more interesting and provide learning moments, but it gives readers the chance to see parts of themselves represented in a positive (though not always glorified) light.
