Anybody else in school just HAM up the stuttering when asked to read out loud so the teacher didn’t ask you anymore?

Anybody else in school just HAM up the stuttering when asked to read out loud so the teacher didn’t ask you anymore? This worked until the grade 6 teacher took me aside and told me she knew what I was doing. “Funny how you stutter so much in class but no at all on the playground” It was like a get out of jail card for reading.
