I hope my reply didn’t sound rude! I’m sure there are SLPs that deter people from using filler sounds and words. I am studying SLP, (and will be graduating this year), I’m just relaying what I’ve learned in school so far. As someone who stutters really badly and always have since I was 2, my therapist told me to use filler sounds and words, and that was the best advice I’ve ever gotten from a SLP in regards to my personal stuttering. But since there’s very little research actually done on stuttering whether or not issuing filler sounds is truly up for debate and research!
