Dude Biden's stutter was basically gone by his early twenties. He's specifically said this. It's rare, but it happens. Most famous stutterers grew out of it as children, which is very common. Most children that stutter grow out of it. Think Emily Blunt for example. Others had very mild ones. Others went to specific fields because of that stutter, so even then it defined them. Think of James Earl Jones, who became an actor because he could speak fluently when he was playing a role. I'm going to be brutally honest, what you said is valid for some people with very mild stutters. People don't care if you have a mild one. In some cases it's even seen as "quirky". Imagine blocking at some point every time you speak though. At that point it's not about letting it define you, it's about not being able to communicate.
