Are you me? Modeling stuttering after others / feeling it's a developed behavior rather than innate. Mute through high school, girlfriend opened you up, sunk deep into WoW. Played guitar. Better speech in college, could present at the very least, etc. This resonates a lot with me. I'm married now, don't have a kid, but I'm also in a technical position (software engineer) and I find myself having to speak very technically with colleagues every day. It's about 50/50 whether or not I'll sound like I know something, or sound like a total idiot because I can't say anything. Speech therapy left a bad mark on me in Elementary school because it didn't really do anything for me. I was also shamed because of it by my class mates. Maybe it's time to get over this stupid bias and speak with another therapist. You're a stranger, but I truly am happy for you. Best of luck, and keep working hard at it.
