Just graduated and I majored in history and creative writing. My professors, in general, didn’t care. There was a lot of talking and presenting though. I took a public speaking class and just mentioned to the professor that I stutter and she was super cool about it. I also have a lot of trouble speaking in foreign languages so I made sure to talk to those professors about it as well and explain. Again, they were cool with it. I could’ve registered with the office of disabilities, but I didn’t think it was necessary. If there was issues I probably would have, however. From my experience, professors don’t seem to care and I doubt I was the only stutterer they ever met. Talking to your professors about it if you think there’s a problem and seeing what they say is a good idea. If you need accommodations, most schools will have you register with their disability office. I think you’re gonna be just fine with this. It’s gonna be good practice to just be speaking with people all the time and also learning to care less about what people think of your stutter. Go ahead and talk to the disability office about it and make sure you know where the office of inclusion and equity (or the equivalent) is as well, in case there’s a big problem. Good luck!!!!
