Um, no it isn’t. Some cases of stuttering really are genuinely rooted in biology/genetics. Me, for example. I’m almost 30 and have had a severe stutter ever since childhood. No amount of speech therapy has helped. I accept the fact that I stutter, and could be perfectly relaxed, but I still stutter 100% of the time in every situation. There’s no way around it for me. Your implication that all stuttering is due to a psychological deficit is frankly insulting and false. It implies that someone stutters because of a deficit in their character, and not because of a genuine condition they have that’s out of their control. Stuttering should be given the same respect as that of other conditions like deafness, Tourette’s, Parkinson’s, autism, and so on.
