He seems to understand some things. Like if I say do you want water, he’ll open his mouth and look around for the cup. Or if I say time to go down, he’ll sometimes look down and brace himself to go on the floor before I even start to put him down. But most of his understanding still seems like it needs a lot of gestures. Like pointing at his ball to put it in a cup or putting out my hand and saying ‘give’ a few times for him to give me the ball. Stuff like that. I think that falls in the receptive communication category which his SLP said he was mostly on track for but still needed work on. He’s definitely behind on the verbal communication (babbling). And has some work to do on non-verbal communication, like waving, nodding, etc. I think the only non-verbal gestures he does are clapping and raise his arms to be picked up. Not bad, but could be better. Sorry you’re dealing with this too. It’s been the most stressful thing so far.
