Even though I have stuttered as long as I can remember, I’m 💯 sure it stunted my personality to a large degree. I would have been more personable and engaging without it. I was immensely shy and introverted as a child and teen. Days would pass where I would say maybe one or two words at school. When others were learning how to make friends and socialize, I was silent to avoid ridicule. I gave up communicating to avoid incessant emotional battery. To this day, I don’t really know how to talk to people to form friendships and have none outside of my wife that I’d consider more than acquaintances. Subsequently, I lacked confidence well into my late 20s. Stuttering is a horrible curse.
