In general, people are accepting of stutterers. It is mostly in our heads, and once we manage to accept ourselves the stutter fades. But, that seems like an impossible task. For me, just making small steps and sometimes drastic changes helped. I dropped out of uni to start working and my colleagues are great. I am still a bit of a shut-in and yearn back to the days of not having to speak to anyone, but small steps... small steps. That being said, depressive episodes are a daily/weekly thing depending on how lucky I am.
