I know exactly what you mean. It kind of is a defeatist attitude in the sense that you still have a stutter. I have not given up on my stutter, I've tried thinking about it in a different way which might help me analyze and find a new solution or solutions. Lately, I've gone towards acceptance because it's the easiest way for me to remedy social anxiety and get back to accepting myself as a whole. I've been going through a huge process to remake a new mindset this past summer and this kind of evolved out of it. I hesitate to say, "Maybe when I'm 50 it will be gone," when, unless research refutes this, stuttering will still likely be a there. I would never tell someone not to go after finding a solution to a problem. There could be a solution to stuttering that has been used, but not "discovered" on a macro scale. I think I rambled and lost myself there. Sorry.
