I completely agree with you in regards to what you said about the victim mentality that seems to be so predominant among people that stutter. I think, for a lot of people at least, that it's orders of magnitude harder to acknowledge that one has so much power to change their situation when they have such an easy out for why they believe their life sucks. As someone who used to embrace this type of victim mentality without realizing it, I firmly believe that stuttering is only as big of a problem as you choose to make it. This may sound petty, but it even gets on my nerves when I see people type "pws" as if everyone should just automatically assume it means "people who stutter". I agree 100% that stuttering does suck, & I wish more than anything that I didn't, but it doesn't even begin to compare to something like Prader-Willi Syndrome. I joke with people that ask me about stuttering (I don't meet too many people with a genuine curiosity very often) & tell them we're a bunch of whiny bitches that refuse to help ourselves haha.
