Thanks for sharing your story! I fully agree that one of the best things we can do for ourselves is working on our confidence, creating the best version of ourselves, stop worrying about what others think, stop being so hard on ourselves and angry at our stutter. It's not an easy journey. It's the journey with and through all of those difficult emotions and experiences that get us there. Some people can go on that journey without support. Others benefit from the guidance of someone who's been there before. Speech therapists who stutter and who specialize in stuttering can be great resources. They're not the only resources. As we see from people's experiences in this subreddit, there are also lots of SLPs who mean well but end up doing more harm than good. If you're seeking support ask for referrals or guidance so you can get the support that's right for you.
