Yes. It gives me a bit of control of people’s perception of my speaking ability and “weird tics”, and from my experience, not doing so is basically allowing some people to assume that I’m a nervous wreck unable to function in other people’s presence or someone with bad manners or an unmanaged mental illness. So many people believed my secondary behaviors was some rude habit that my parents failed to correct, or a sign that my brain wasn’t firing on all cylinders. Good thing is that at least some of these people are receptive to my explanation.
