Please remember that a speech professional will not listen like a regular person will -- they won't judge! They know what you're going through. There's a chance that you may treat the interaction like you do with others -- avoid words, avoid asking things, etc., Don't do this. This will dilute your experience a lot. If you feel it's so hard to say things and that it's taking a lot of time, then don't be afraid to write things down and bring them to the sessions. You will want to do this less and less, obviously. But it's important to communicate during the sessions. This will maximize what you get out of it. It's hard to do the homework as well. But if you just set aside even a half hour or an hour by yourself each day, it'll build your confidence. I only ever had speech therapy in high school, but I learned a lot of solid techniques from that SLP that I still use today. Stick around here on Reddit and let us know how you're getting on. Don't be afraid of your future.
