Do you find drinking helps? My stutter is quite mild except for when I come to words with no substitute like my name. I had a quite embaressing interaction recently where someone asked for me name in front of a number of acquaintances who aren't fully aware of the extent of my anxiety about stuttering. It was bad. Cringe inducing, and an all around haunting experience that may very well plague my daydreams for years to come. However I find this not to be the case when I drink. I don't speak more fluidly when I'm tipsy, but I do give much less of a shit about the potential for negative judgement of witnesses and with that the stuttering almost entirely dissipates to a few ums and ahs. This makes me feel like it is less of a stuttering problem and more of an anxiety issue. I'm aware that one feeds into the other but alcohol could be the breach in that cycle. Has anyone else found this to be the case?
