I’ll second (and third) a lot of people who are noting that avoiding words isn’t a great method, and that if you’re in speech therapy, this is a great topic to go over with them. I’m similar to you where I sometimes have substitute words in mind if I’m in a situation like a job interview where I know I’ll be stressed, and be worried about trying to say a key word. [Checking out a thesaurus](https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/remember) entry for specific words and phrases can be helpful if you’re in a spot where you need to avoid a word. Edit: so for example, using the phrase you’re asking about plus that thesaurus entry, you could say “can you remind me what ____ is.” It would depend on the context of the conversation tho
