For two prior jobs I was a supervisor over a team of roughly 5 people, give or take. The latest position I was on the phones, a LOT. And if there’s one thing stutterers have in common, it’s we all hate phone calls. That was probably the worse aspect of the job for me. Other than that, my team was great and actually respected me, and didn’t care if I stuttered or not. One tip I can give as a supervisor is treat your team like you’d want to be treated no matter what. If you or your team are having conflicts, ponder the situation alone for some time, then think of the best possible solution before you act. Now one tip I can give as a stuttering supervisor, which this really applies mainly for new hires or those who don’t know you, but pull them aside one at a time. Tell them a little about yourself, and that you do have a stutter, it is what it is, but here we are. Usually the one on one talk lets the individual feel more valued as a member of the team, than if you were to talk to them as a group.
