I met with a speech pathologist throughout highschool and while it didn't solve my stuttering by a long shot, it definitely gave me tools/techniques to use to help me control my speech more, and I believe that if I really worked on using them consistently I'd be very fluent. If you are serious about speech therapy you will probably have to work hard and long at it though.
