Doesn't even matter if it works. I do it because it is the quickest way to disclose my stutter. My stutter is mostly blocks, so if I don't disclose my stutter, they just see me as a fluent person who just talks slow and pauses in weird places. That is fine until they think I paused to let them interrupt or until they see my secondary behavior of frowning and jump to conclusions.
