How can we help our son? Hi everyone. Our son is 8 and has a stutter. Sometimes it is more noticeable, sometimes it goes away. He is on the list for NHS speech therapy...again. He had a speech impediment when he was learning to talk and could not pronounce some letters. This was resolved and all was fine. Then about 2 years the stutter became very noticeable. Took me a long time with the school to get him referred but we are now there and on the long list. How can we help him at home now? We repeat things back to him, we try not to finish words for him, we get him to try and ow down and try again- sometimes he will but sometimes he gets understandably upset. He will sometimes put on funny voices to try and cover it up or he will just give up or use easier words. I dont know of its connected at all but he was born slightly prem at 34 weeks via emergency c-section but developmentally he is where he should be. Thankyou in advance.
